When preparing to start the actual writing process of your essay you need to consider the audience that you are writing to.  By writing to them as if they are right there and having a conversation with them can help you write a better essay. Take the following questions taken out of The Curious Researcher by Bruce Ballenger to help you get started in what kind of questions that a reader would ask and want answered.  If you need more of an idea of how to respond then take my example of clothing style personalities into consideration.

  1. Why? Where? Who? When? What?
  2. What do you mean by ___?
  3. How do most people see this? How do you see it differently?
  4. Are you kidding? I didn't know that. What else did you find out?
  5. Can you give me an example?
  6. Did that surprise you?
  7. What other questions does this raise?
  8. Who does this affect, mostly?
  9. What should we do about this?
  10. I'm not sure I believe this. Why do you?
  11. What do you think we should do about it?
Example:

  1. This is important because it affects every person who wear clothes, which would be everyone and anyone around the world at any time because clothes will always define who we are. This even effects people in the most poorest places because they need clothes too.
  2. When I say clothing style personalities I am talking about how people have a certain style that defines what their personality is like.  Say if a woman wears scarves or flowy skirts she could have a calm neutral personality.
  3. Some people could see this as the clothes defining the person but this is not always the case. Some people cannot afford clothes but the way a person is dressed can define how they feel about themselves.  Such as if a person is dressed lazy then they could hypothetically feel or be lazy.
  4. Something that most people don't really think about is how the adolescent stage is where a person finds their identity which revolves around their personality.  This could cause change in a once okay personality to someone who follows the crowd and does not be themselves.
  5. An example of a clothing personality could be something like wanting to look or feel good so a person would wear more professional clothes.
  6. When I first read this I was amazed that clothes can make a person feel differently. This could be why teens don't dress the way they want  so that they can fit in with different people.
  7. Some other questions that branched off of this are about how people feel about other peoples clothes. One of the subjects was about how people have first impressions of people because of what they are wearing.
  8. This would effect everyone because every has first impressions of a person because of what they are wearing. For example, employers who are interviewing a person can only meet a person once and if they are wearing sweatpants and a t-shirt they are most likely not getting hired because the employer thinks they do not care.
  9. What we should do about this is pay more attention to what we are wearing and make sure we are dressed that will best fit us.
  10. I believe we should do this because many people do not care about what they look like and it is causing an issue to the people around them and the people themselves.
  11. To make sure this becomes less of an issue people should take the extra minute to see what they look like but most importantly know what kind of clothes will best suit their personality.
